Gioia de Vivere!
December 12, 2011
Still haven't left the comfort of this quaintness. Bright sunshine followed the squall of the morning. Spent time in Rufolo gardens. Amazing what can be done with zinnias, marigolds and begonias. Spared you my 20+ flower "tights" (there's a word for that but it won't come to me for a bit). The fall colors are lovely.
Found two gorgeous bracelets today. Nothing in common except price. One would be everyday, the other is fine, fine, fine but I'd make it everyday....Alfonso, the creator of the latter one, tells me I have beautiful eyes "like the beautiful bracelet," he goes on. Veronica, who has me tasting wine, limoncello and a like version of the liqueur using local mandarin oranges (tasty!) addresses me as "madam," which is akin to "ma'am." Neither feel flattering as they seem to be directed toward women of a certain age. Yes, it must be so.
Photography, color, beauty, writing, meeting people, creating, admiring form, design and ageless sculpture, structures and art forms; all these feed my soul. And to do it with this ancient sea always within my sight is without parallel. Tomorrow is the local market. My hostess, Madalina tells me I can purchase yarn there. She was admiring the two scarves I've created since the trip began. She, too, knits.
We, people, have more in common than we do not. Gioia de vivere! Joie de vivre! Joy of living!
