OK take 2, I read an interesting revier of my Nikkor-c mirror on hoaiphai.wordpress.com He has some interesting ideas and one of them is to do a LAB decompose and then run an unsharp mask on the Luminance channel, the one we are most sensitive to. So I did with the settings in GIMP Radius 1.2, Amount 5.0 and Threshold 1. The sharpened image above is the result.
