insideOut, Duet with Cave
March 2, 2018
A collaborative dance improvisation by Teresa Smith and myself, created and performed for IN:SITE, a show of new, site specific works made to engage artists and viewers more deeply with the land of the historic Snyder Estate, home of the Widow Jane Mine. I also curated this show collaboratively with Jenny Lee Fowler, of Kingston, New York.

Recent Theater
March 2, 2018
This tryptic is of a movement theater piece entitled "Manifestation Ritual" performed as a post residency sharing at the Art Monastery in Springfield, VT May 2018. It chronicled a lifelong obsession with both literal and metaphoric states of the unformed or embryonic, and the artists' desire for motherhood.

Rooting
an installation of plant roots in space

with brief performances at opening, closing & additional viewing times
and featuring photography by collaborator, Bruce Hooke

about Rooting

To root is to reach for sources of sustenance & stability. This rarely witnessed act makes the growth we see possible. Inside rooting, you are invited to explore a hidden canopy, glimpsing gestures of growth, and contemplate the origin of action.

Rooting is part of a body of work conceived in NY in 2005. It’s first piece, “Connection” premiered in RI in 2012. This latest iteration, was on view in Pawtucket, RI in May of 2015. The experience is one of your body in space, so it is best felt in person.

Current: Exploring Embodiment
October 16, 2011
New work by Natasha Maria Brooks-Sperduti. Solo show, As220 Project Space July 2011.

Knowing that all living things are embodiments of universal energy, this work strives to uncover and reveal the secret fleeting gestures around us- the motions within forms, of living and dying, of 'shining out' and 'bowing in'. Of connecting to others and connecting to our inner selves.

Natasha makes work & play out of exploring real and perceived limitations of embodiment. Her current practice combines daily art and yoga as a way of creating fluidity in order to foster growth. She uses the motion of her body to make site specific installation and performance, and she uses photography to collect and share moments discovered in the world around her. Natasha lives in Providence, Rhode Island. She has shown in New York and London, and holds a degree in Studio Art from Bard College.

Photographs from this show are for sale through the artist. (all are digital prints on archival Epson photo Luster paper, limited edition of three). Contact natashamaria0@gmail.com for details.

These are all photographs that I or others took of my artwork. I used this grouping as the images for a talk I gave about my work during my last gallery show. It turned out to be a good introduction to my practice. I hope to share the verbal or written part soon too, probably right here!
