Walking in the beach on New Years Eve, we stumbled across two discarded Christmas trees which some environmentally thoughtful (or maybe just bored) soul had decorated with plastic refuse picked up from the beach: bottle caps, plastic string, sunglasses, washing up gloves, plastic bottles....the usual suspects. A poignant reminder of how our seemingly harmless household plastic goods can end up in the environment where they not only kill the fauna around them, but spoil the beauty of our beloved beaches.
