Vermont in the Autumn
October 13, 2008
I have always wanted to go up to Vermont to see the famous fall colors. Well I did this weekend and it floored me. Apparently this year was one of the best as there have been few storms to blow the leaves away.
Apart from taking 200 or so pictures, one the activities we did was to hike down one the ski trails. Kind of fun to see it all without snow.
One of the highlights of the weekend was seeing a Pileated Woodpecker. This is a rare, foot long creature and cousin to the probably extinct Ivory-Billed Woodpecker...which is why it gave me such a chilling thrill to this great bird! Being classed as 'uncommon' I feel like I have been upgraded in terms of my bird watching capabilities.
