Overnight canoe trip up in Adirondack State Park. It was the first time that I had ever camped without a car so you really had to think carefully about what you needed to bring. When only having to pack the bare essentials, it really reminds you of how much stuff one lives with day to day that you really don't need. I loved the chance to free myself of it all and focus on my present existence in nature. Ray Mear's Bushcraft ethos is a huge inspiration and I am planning to do more of these trips in the future, with a bushcraft rather than 'an outdoor Gortex junkie' perspective! www.raymears.com
