We signed up for a tour bus journey, set to leave Stalis at 8.30 am. At 9 o'clock, we left, picking up various passengers on the way and were given an excellent tour of Knossos palace by a fairly senior tour-guide, who gave us detailed and clear descriptions of the site (as well as on-the-spot translations into German). At this time, my camera's memory was playing up, mysteriously telling me I had only a few pictures left -karma for flouting the 'no electronic devices during take-off' rule? I was convinced that was the reason. Anyhow, from the earliest civilisation in European history to our first brush with civilisation since coming to Crete, aka Heraklion, which conveniently had an electrical store near the centre, meant that I could get a new memory card and stop being as frugal with my snapping. It did teach me a brief, but valuable lesson about being economical with shots though. Hopefully, I can learn to discipline myself to wait for the shot and not over-snap. We didn't make it to the museum at Heraklion, where the artefacts found at the site of Knossos are now housed.
