Final Day in YogaLand
January 21, 2012
Today completed our two-weeks of Anusara Intensive. It was a great time, I can't believe it went so quickly. Part of me wishes to roll into another week, and a part is ready to move on to the Southern beaches for some fun in the sun. I really enjoyed learning more about the Anusara philosophy and practice, with particular focus on alignment. Also, it had been a long time since I had a consistent meditation practice and I really valued our mornings in the treehouse sala, having the sounds of the awakening roosters and twittering birds in the background.

Spent most of the week in and around the resort and Santapong village, as I didn't feel like dealing with the long evening transfers to/from Chiang Mai after full days of practice. With one exception... The BEST Thai Massage and Herbal Press (2 hours!!!) I have ever had at the Loi Kroh Massage Parlor. Never had a hot press before, it's a hot compress that is infused with herbs and dabbed all over the body to soothe tired muscles. Perfect after our intense days as well as very warming during what had been cool nights this week... It dropped down to the low 40s.

A few more dinners in the local village to feed our Kow Soi addictions rounded out the week and we enjoyed a final night at the lounge in the resort, participating in a karaoke of sorts... Thanks to Azriel's guitar skills, Daphne's google searches for song lyrics, and the cheap-date wine tolerance of yogis after 2 weeks of an intensive.

Our final morning practice was held outside along the pool. We had a bit of a schedule conflict with a wedding planned at the resort for that morning. Apparently the number 9 is auspicious, so the ring ceremony was planned for 909am just under the yoga treehouse. We moved to the pool to get a bit out of their way. I wonder what the guests thought of the 40 of us in our yoga gear twisting and stretching alongside the outdoor ceremony, haha!

Said farewell to Chiang Mai and the group for a 4pm flight down to Phuket. Spending the next 3 nights in Nai Yang beach, which is part of the Sirinat National Park in the northern part of the island. It's Sea Turtle season, hoping for a glimpse tomorrow.
