Family Photographs

I love photographs and what better way to get your own history than from old family photos?
The thing I love about our pictures is that my father is somewhat of an artist, and that he had his own set of rules for taking great photographs:
1. It's more artistic to photograph a child staring blankly into the lens than smiling. I had an amazing childhood, so don't be concerned when you see that in 90% of the pictures we are not smiling. It's all on the inside baby!
2. Silence is bliss. Not that I have any of his videos here, YET, but my dad used to record birds on the bird feeder and flowers in the garden for what seemed like hours and not say a word the entire time. It was almost uncomfortable to watch. Whereas on the other hand my mother liked to have her hand pointing at things prominent in both video and photos.
