We spent the last week on the Mediterranean coast with our good friend Källa and her two kids. We had a lot of fun playing in the sea and the in the pool!

We spent a day at Pont du Gard, a 2000 year Roman bridge that they used as a aqueduct to cary water to the city of Nimes. The Aqueduct was used continuously used for over 500 years! It was very hot and the river was a nice way to cool off!

We were in Avignon right before there annual theater festival. There were posters EVERYWHERE advertising for performances.
We stayed in an apartment in a building built in the 1500's. We walked on the Pont d'Avignon (1171) and we got to see the Palais des Papes (1252).

Phina was pretending to be older. She was not actually drinking wine!
We took an hour drive to Chamonix to visit the Alps. We rode a cable car almost to the top of europe's highest mountain. It was about 32F/1C at the top. We were above the clouds in the sun at 12,602 ft or 3,842 m. I was here in 1984 and it was fun to take Taya and the kids to visit this amazing place! I took way too many pictures.

We drove 20 min to this castle on the other side of lac d'Annecy. It was built by joining together separate 11th century towers by the Menthon family in the 1700's and is still owned and lived in by the family. Walt Disney visited the castle and it was his inspiration for the castle in Sleeping Beauty.

We spent a few days wandering the streets and markets. During the 6 days of our visit there were 3 farmers markets and 1 art/flea market.
The lake is one of the cleanest in the world! Smelled and felt like a fresh water bathtub!

TGV is a high speed train. It went 150 to 170 mph and was very smooth!
