Mendoza Concrete ATTACKED the front and side yards on Friday (95+ degrees outside!) while C. Hinkle Consruction began installation of all interior doors.
Looking so good!

This weekend we enjoyed seeing the results of the drywall being finished and it's beautiful. Dunn definitely got it done!
The new garage doors were installed thanks to Mario & his guys from Dynamic Garage Doors. They are so quiet. (primed only, paint to follow)
Alan got rid of the rest of the tiles from bathroom & fireplace while Mom followed behind him to clean up the debris, and Dad & I took out the rest of the doors/casings/jambs.
Today we finished up the weekend with vacuuming & blowing out the dust and cleaning to prep for paint, then picked up the mirrors, faucets, and hardware for the boys' bathroom.
Next up: primer, paint, and possibly even the installation of the lower kitchen cabinets. Finally!!

We have officially completed Phase 1! No more interior demo!
This week's accomplishments (with the help of my parents of course) include raising the downstairs bathroom ceiling, expanding the coffered ceiling to 6x10, and removing the last few pieces of trim & hardware from all of the walls. All prepped for drywall.
We also started sampling interior & exterior paint colors, and may have found just the right ones.
Up next, the plumber (Randy @ Bathroom Blues) will add the water line for the pasta faucet on the wall behind the stove and the big job this week will be the drywall (Rob & crew @ Dunn Drywall).
It will be so great to see things getting put back together after so much take down & tear out.

Today Mom & Dad returned and we finished & framed in the master retreat and the pass-thru between the dining room and kitchenette. Mom gets the First Injury Award, even after double and triple requesting her use of her protective gloves... One slip, without gloves and OUCH! Not sure what the deal is with Cole family injuries, but Mom is true to her blood line and cut her finger. The good news is that it was a small boo-boo and we got to use the new first aid kit for the first time. 1. Antiseptic wipes, 2. Antibiotic ointment, 3. Bandages....
Moving right along, we ripped out the rest of the base, some door casings, removed electrical plate covers, and met with the window guy.

Tonight's project was to start filing the third dumpster which arrived today with the kitchen cabinets and appliances & bathroom debris. Panda (Jason) & Poppa (Ed) and I must have made a hundred trips back and forth. It was a great cardio workout!
Meanwhile, Alan worked on relocating the downstairs bathroom ducting for the new ceiling.
Former kitchen countertop.
Thanks to Ed, "elves" have come and gone and took al of the floor tile with them. A huge help!
Bye bye old double oven.
Away goes the old dishwasher.

Alan opened up the severely low ceiling in the guest bathroom which was only a few inches above the shower stall. Then proceeded to opening the wall/doorway of the master closet, and finally getting rid of the low mounted built-in fluorescent light fixture box above the master bathroom vanity.
Just 2 more weekends left to prep for drywall. Clock is ticking!

Long day today. Up @ 6am to meet dry waller contractor, Rob Dunn @ Dunn Drywall. Then 9am appointment @ Bedrosians (slab yard) to choose granite. We took forever to decide with so many beautiful options! Then back to house to meet Mario @ Dynamic Garage Door, then out to get lumber, and finally back to house again to meet Ed (Alan's dad) and Oscar, who took care of removing the termite infested decking, stubborn tree stump & deep concrete borders, and who will also be handling some of the bigger excavation & landscaping. (a million thank you's!!)
